University Women Day Trip, Chelsea, Michigan The University Women of BGSU are organizing a day trip to Chelsea, Michigan on Thursday, May 7, 2020 to eat at the Common Grill (noon) and attend the play “Paint Night” at Jeff Daniel’s Purple Rose Theatre (3:00 pm). Thank you Lee Hakel for this suggestion. The play is about 5 women attending a paint night who find out neither paintings nor their lives turn out as expected. The day trip is open to all University Women, as well as their friends. A lunch at the Common Grill will cost $25 *(See menu below). The restaurant is known for its excellent food.
The Purple Rose theatre is located at 137 Park St., Chelsea, Michigan which is about 20 miles west of Ann Arbor. We will meet at 10:00 AM in the Kroger parking lot and car pool. We can park behind the Purple Rose Theatre, which is a community parking lot and walk to the Common Grill. Both Common Grill and Purple Rose are handicap accessible. Please let me know if you need special accommodations for the Purple Rose Theatre, as I will communicate that information when I order tickets.
If you are able to join us on Thursday, May 7, please send a check made out to Mary Jo Venis for $29.00 to
Mary Jo Venis, 10925 Linwood Rd, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402
Payment must be received by Sunday, Feb. 23 as the tickets have to be ordered when they go on sale. If you have any questions or if you are willing to drive, please contact Mary Jo Venis at 419-351-9219 or email her at email@example.com with your name and the number of passengers you can accommodate. If your check covers payment for more than one attendee, please let her know who will be going.
*New information about our Day Trip Lunch: We were originally told that our group could order off of the regular menu. However, because of the size of our group, we are in the category of a large group and so we have to order off of that menu in order for us to be served timely. Common Grill deals with many large groups who then attend the play at the Purple Rose Theater.
The cost for the meal is $25.00 which includes the meal, the tax, and the tip. Payment has to be made in one transaction. We will collect cash or a check from you at the restaurant, and we will then pay. The menu is attached*.
If anyone prefers not to go because of this change, please let us know today, and we will refund your money to you.
If you are attending, you do not have to reply. If you have guests coming with you, please share this information with them.

A note from our President:
Thanks so much to Barbara and Roger Sanchez for hosting our festive holiday party in their beautifully decorated home! Attendees were entertained by Joe Baker and we all enjoyed a jovial performance by Jo Ascunce and TOOTs. The food was very tasty and conversation had a fun friendly vibe! Again, thanks to Barbara and Roger! Anne Bullerjahn and her merry elves in the Community Service Interest Group helped make the holiday brighter for three area families. Thanks to the generosity of our membership, the group had donations of over $1300 to purchase food and gifts for the families. Barbara and Tom O’ Brien continue to shop for food items each year. Sandy Wicks and Grounds for Thought donated age appropriate books for the children. Barbara O’Brien and the Knit Wits created hand crafted items for the families. Anne and her committee shopped and wrapped gifts for the ten children in the families. Thank you very much to all who are involved in this project! Now on to 2020!! Cindy Colvin
