Our President’s Message:
Our President’s Message:
Fall has always been my favorite season. You watch the leaves bursting into beautiful reds, oranges and browns as they cascade to the ground. You feel the crisp cool air and long for a sweatshirt and a cup of hot chocolate to warm and embrace your soul. There is so much beauty this time of the year and I hope you all have a chance to take time out of your busy schedules to enjoy the warmth of this Autumn Season.
We currently have 146 paid members for 2018 and the applications are still being received. If you are still planning to join University Women of BGSU you can download the application at https://www.universitywomenofbgsu.com. Please send your application and check to Phyllis Hartwell as soon as possible.
The 2018 UW Fall Brunch was well attended with as many as 90 women in attendance at the Simpson Building Garden Park. The raffle and the silent auction were successful with earnings of $819.00 for the raffle and $592.00 for the silent auction. We also received an anonymous donation of $1000. The speakers, Dr. Rodney Rogers, and Thomas Walton were excellent as was the food. The Simpson Building has been reserved for the 2019 Fall Brunch, so mark your calendar for Saturday, August 24, 2019.
The Holiday Party will be at the beautiful home of Roger and Barbara Sanchez at 720 Brittany Ave. in BG starting at 6:30 on Friday, December 14th. Joe Baker will provide the entertainment. The party is open to members, spouses, and guests who may want to join University Women of BGSU. You are asked to bring a hearty appetizer and a beverage to share. Dessert and non-alcoholic punch will be provided.
Anne Bullerjahn will once again coordinate the UW Community Service project. The committee will provide food, clothing, books, and toys for needy families. The Salvation Army will provide Anne with the name of the family and details. If you would like to help out, you can bring a cash donation to the Holiday Party. If you will not be able to attend the party, you can mail a check to Anne at 201 North Maple St., BG, OH 43402. Anne and her committee will shop, wrap and deliver the holiday baskets. If you are interested in helping, you can contact Anne at 419-353-5831 or email@example.com.
I would also like to thank the executive board for making this an easy transition to the Presidency giving their time and attention to the details, arrangements, and set up of the Fall Brunch. We would also like to say Thank You to all the UW members who donated such fabulous items for the raffle and silent auction. Through your wonderful generosity the University Women of BGSU scholarship program is thriving!
As Thanksgiving and the Holidays are fast approaching, I wish you and yours warm wishes filled with everything that brings you happiness.
